Ok this week was amazing! Not only is working with customers an awesome part of this business but getting to purchase furniture and items that they will utilize every day is "more" awesome. In the quest to provide awesome service we have to be mindful of what the client wants and what they actually need. Sometimes these two things don't align and so the persuasive leader in me comes out and it usually always works out where the client is happy! One issue with providing design for others is the conversation between designer and customer pertaining to the project budget. Research recommends that the conversation be had prior to starting the actual project but not at the first meeting. The first consultation is usually to get a feel of what the client's style is and what results they are looking for. The budget conversation should include questions and answers from everyone involved. It should provide realistic numbers for the complete project (designer rates, consultation fees, furniture, sales tax, accessories and design elements needed). The client's needs and budget will dictate what materials are purchased; it will also determine the price range of those materials. Staging and creating design is so much fun so not a minute should be spent wasting the client or the designer's time! So let's get to adding Style & Beauty into everyone's Life!
